What type of Training do you use?

My philosophy is that you and your dog can enjoy training and have it become a positive in your life and to allow yourself to experience all the great rewards.

My teaching style is to teach you how to train your own dog!

Training like this sets up the dogs for success and can show you that its possible.  I pride myself on offering coaching and classes that are fun and real world practical for both you and your dog. Being a mother of 4 the importance of proper Safety for your children and your dogs is my #1 priority! Having raised multiple dogs with my children I can tell you that being a BE A TREE presentation should be taught in every home and every school! My methods are simple without over complicating training for you or the dog.

My whole goal is to alleviate stress, not cause it!

What type of Tools do I use?

These are some of the tools I am educated in using leashes, collars, Harnesses, Head Halti, backpacks, scent patches (Blind Dogs), vibration collar (Deaf Dogs) NOT SHOCK, muzzles, treat pouches, whistles, and my voice!  I love using the tools you have at home!  This elleviates having to go out and spend a bunch of money on things you may not need and it is a wonderful way for me to educate you if your using it improperly.

Rewards can be praise, petting, toys, food, access to the environment (such as sniffing the telephone pole), and life rewards (such as being taken for a walk, or the ultimate reward.... Gets to be a dog!)

Do you use a clicker?

I do not use a clicker.  I find that when we take the time to acknowledge our dogs at the time they are doing the desired behavior with our voice (verbal cue like Yes, or Good Dog)  and our facial expressions (smiles, head nods) this reinforces what we like and also helps with bonding.

Should I attend a group class or private sessions or have my dog stay at a board and train?

For most dogs, especially puppies, I encourage owners to have one private session or online classes to get a good grasp of the basics and then attend a group class. In this environment we are best able to provide controlled distractions for the purpose of training and socialization in the real world.

Once these distractions are more controlled then you can look into something like BARKS Class if your still having issues.

As for Board and Train, I currently do not offer that.

Does my puppy have to have its full vaccinations before we start training?

Both Yes and No.  Yes if you are attending puppy GROUP classes!  No if you are having private in home lessons or online lessons.  Make sure you keep up to date with your vaccines!

Can more then one family member attend your classes or sessions?

Absolutely!  I heavily encourage family members to attend class together as this is a terrific way for everyone to be on the same page and to have fun with their dog. If you have small children, they may attend class, but must be supervised at all times by an adult and be able to remain calm in class so as not to scare the other dogs or otherwise disrupt the class. Please see our PARENTAL CONSENT FORM

What should I bring to class?

This is fully detailed in a private email you will receive after you have registered for any of my services.

Is there a guarantee for your training?

I am a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers: Members are to refrain from giving guarantees regarding the outcome of training, because there is no sure way to guarantee the cooperation and performance of all parties involved and because the knowledge of animal behavior is incomplete. This should not be confused with a desire to guarantee client satisfaction with professional services.
